New Khateebs Workshop 7th February 2009

The MYF organised a workshop for 19 potential new khateebs on Saturday 7th February 2009. The attendees were predominately youth involved already in Islamic work. The programme included two lectures by Sheikh Salem Abdus Salamm Al Shekhi on ‘The Fiqh of Khutbahs’ plus presentations by Dr Bel Haj ‘Characteristics and Qualities of Imams and Khateebs’, Imtiaz Hussein ‘Preparation of a Khutbah and its Contents’ plus Abo Sondes ‘Style, Delivery and Public Speaking’. The attendees also had the opportunity to deliver their own mini khutbah which was evaluated.
 

Sheikh Hussein Halawa Seminar 8th February 2009

Sheikh Hussein Halawa (Ireland), a scholar from Al Azhar university (Egypt) who is the general secretary of the European Council of Fatwa and Research and imam of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland gave a lecture in Arabic on ‘Fiqh of Dawah’ at a seminar at the MYF on Sunday 8th February 2009. Ali Selim (Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland ) translated the lecture into English.
